Although the medical situation in Laos is rapidly improving, unfortunately there is not yet a hospital of international standard. For those living here, the closest hospital of any standard would be across the border, such as Wattana Hospital in Nong Khai or better yet Aek Udon Hospital in Udon Thani. In the case of a critical medical situation, however, it’s best to head to Bangkok and seek medical attention in one of the better hospitals there.
